Alice Springs Real World Fashion Runway
We’re back!
What a wonderful feeling to be invited to return to the ladies and gentlemen of Alice Springs and bring along our Real World Runway event.
The runway was held at the delightful Yeperenye Shopping Centre for the second year and we’re happy to say it was a huge success.
We arrived a few days early to begin dressing (and help break any runway nerves) our three gorgeous models: Ra, Andy and Suman. May I just say, it was a pleasure working with them – they are all amazing people.
Nicole, the centre’s marketing manger went to great lengths to decorate the stage (pics below). There was a beautiful arrangement of food and refreshments for the guests along with the coveted goodie bag.
While Yeperenye may not be the size of Chadstone or Westfield Bondi Junction, we found an incredible array of products and enthusiastic retailers keen to support us in creating the looks for our models.
Naturally, the catwalk glamour was there but primarily, these events are designed to demonstrate the style possibilities that can be found in your local shopping centre.
Alice Springs is a regional town that makes sourcing fashion a little more challenging. Online shopping has definitely brought variety to the people of the Red Centre but you know I’m an advocate for the brick and mortar store.
I believe clothes should be tried, assistance should be sought from your retailer and there is nothing quite like supporting locals. It’s a community thing.
So to the stores we used:
- Best and Less
- Betts Shoes
- Centre Jewellers
- Jay Jays
- Katies
- Maviks Menswear
- Millers
- Sportscene
- The Dressing Room
- The Paper Shoppe
The runway began with our usual casual (out for coffee) look; smart casual (lunch) and closed with after five.
All of the models were nervous before the show but it didn’t take long for them to relax and move and groove to the music.
A special shout out to Andy, a local fireman who traded in his uniform for some stylish looks. He also had all the ladies cheering and asking for more 🙂
Also to the lovely audience who came along for the runway ride – we loved having you there and meeting many of you post event.
I think we have captured some great photos below so I hope you enjoy them.
Well that wraps this up for another year and I can only anticipate that I’ll have the opportunity to revisit Yeperenye shopping Centre for another runway in 2016.
Year-on-year we prepare to make these events bigger, better and the message of personal style to reach as many people as possible.
We also look forward to meeting with some of the wonderful people of Alice Springs again!
