Autumn & Winter Fashion 2017
I love this time of year for fashion!!
What’s arrived in stores by the middle of February is always exciting, a sneak preview of what will filter through over the coming season and a chance to start planning some new purchases!
This week you will have noticed some new season stock hitting stores, with Autumn/Winter 17 bringing autumnal colours including navy, deep reds, dusky pinks, florals, long bell sleeves and some beautiful open toe trans-seasonal footwear.
I like to wait a few more weeks for the entire range to hit stores, and when the temperature drops closer to April the heavier knitwear will arrive.
My Senior Stylist Gabrielle and I had a blast experimenting with the soft launch Autumn/Winter styles.
Spending time in stores with Gabrielle is a dream as she has a natural eye for style, and picks out pieces that are elegant and polished when put together.
Gabrielle has trained with my Professional Styling Academy as an Advanced Stylist and has been styling with clients for some time, and as you can see by her beautiful smile, she is an incredibly warm and bubbly support to our clients!
So! Let Gabrielle and I model some looks for Autumn/Winter 2017 and I will share my style forecasts.
Autumn/Winter Hues
Lots of light grey, marle grey
Dusky pinks, reds very strong this season, blush, bright magenta, and some leopard print.
A touch of cobalt
Lots of black, white and sky blue , nude & tan footwear
Pattern, Print & Detailing
Lurex banding with glitter and fun neck & shoulder detail
Paisley print a winner for Autumn winter especially in deep navy
Stronger florals coming through this season, with a nod to the 60’s & 70’s
Trends
Cold shoulder trend will continue for next few months, until winter hits.
70’s tuxedo suits are coming! Think man style separates with soft blouses.
Blouses a wardrobe staple will be full, frilly & pretty this season, with long bell sleeves floral and paisley patterns.
Skirts are full with tie waists (great for hiding a tummy) and if you haven’t noticed already, pleated!
Pleated skirts are going to be HUGE whether they are soft or stiff, metallic or jewel toned they are going to be everywhere. Emerald green, deep plum, gold, dusky pink, black are all the stars for the pleated skirt.
Remember to use your clever dressing techniques with pleated skirts & elastic waist bands proving tricky!
Even if you are someone looking to hide ‘bits’ you can still enjoy these trends with some tips and tricks from a Stylist.
Blazers are going to have cut-outs and detail this season that will bring a modernity to this wardrobe staple.
Even more trends… not for everyone!!
Oversized streetwear, grunge street look
Sports luxe will be huge, Cue is embracing this as well as Seed having a newly dedicated area instores!
Velvet will be huge!
Velvet blouses, dresses, camisoles, jackets, blazers & coats
White t- shirts under dresses, long or bell sleeve or t-shirt a great way of modernising a summer dress
Satin Trenchcoats, jumpsuits & blouses
Outwear
Outerwear will have strong and sharp shoulders with blazers, vests, jackets and capes
Long vests with cut outs thru sides are wonderful for slimming the shape and polishing your look.
Leather jackets return for another season, no surprise there!
Satin trenches, will be a winner in rich navy, black, soft camel and this season’s favourite dusky pink.
Military jackets and biker jackets and bell sleeve capes & gold detailing will also be big.
Shoes & Accessories
Belts are going to be thin with intricate detail, studs, glitter and chains belts will also be big.
Shoes are catering for trans-seasonal wear right now, you will find a lot of open toe, caged style, mules and platform brogues.
Black is everywhere and nude is big this time of year, and with mules you will get a few more months wear from this trend but come mid-April boots will be taking over!
If you are holding out for boots, Winter Boots are going to start coming in March! Watch this space!
Hope you are feeling fashion inspired for the new season stock!
What are you loving this season?
What are you excited about purchasing?

All beautiful but I especially love the first look – the colour of the shoes and the dress are light and summery and so complimentary together and against your colouring Cindy, but the big silver necklace is my favourite.
Where can I buy it please? Big statement pieces seem to have gone out of fashion but finer jewellery just doesn’t suit me.
Thanks Louisexx

Hi Louise, thank you for your comment! I love this look too, really beautiful combination.
The statement necklace is one from my own collection from Mocha.
It is a great piece, I have not seen anything very similar lately, but you could check out Lovisa or Myer & David Jones.
Thanks Louise x
