Boxing Day Sales Shopping Tips
Merry Christmas! Along with my Christmas wish this year, I thought I would throw in some tips on shopping the Christmas sales, and how to buy a bargain that really is a bargain.
First and foremost, know your pre-Christmas prices.
Before you even think of stepping into a shopping centre you should audit your wardrobe and make a list of what is missing.
Be prepared! The frenzy of the Boxing Day sales is incomparable. It’s pushy, crowded, fast paced and everyone is out for the cheapest prices.
The best sale purchases to make:
– Designer handbags
– Jewellery
– Perfume
– Designer clothing
– Shoes
– Jackets and blazers.
Have you had your eye on any of the key items above? If so, sales are a great time to go for it!
So many times I have done wardrobe audits for clients and found things hanging up with price tag still on, so be careful – choose something because you love it, you need it, and it fits your body shape. Sale time is not an excuse to compromise.
You should be able to list in your mind at least two or three items you know you can wear it with. If you can’t, and you cannot find something you can put with it, then leave it.
Buyers remorse is huge after Christmas, not only due to the over spending we always do beforehand, but the temptation of the after Christmas sales.
Set your budget. What can you afford to spend? Talk it over with your partner if you need to, or if your money is your own, set out a limit on your spend before you hit the shops. If you go over, at least you will do it with awareness.
I strongly advise against buying clothes a size smaller because you plan to shed those extra kilos for 2013. Unless you have a good track record of that type of motivation working for you, feeling good about yourself now is usually more effective.
Buying smaller because its on sale in the hope that one day it will fit is a real trap, but enough said, I’ll leave that up to you.
We all love a discount, so as well as being prepared, remember to have fun!
To everyone that I have shopped with and styled in 2012, as well as all of you I have worked with over the years, I would like to thank you for your support to myself, and Style with Cindy.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas, and a fabulously stylish New Year.
I hope to see you all in 2013.
Love & happy shopping
Cindy
