Style for many women can be elusive or a better way to say it is achieving an ideal style day after day that suits your personality budget, body shape and lifestyle can be challenging for most women and even some men. Time constraints, other commitments and priorities just get in the way. Even some who have never been shown or been involved with fashion and style struggle to feel good about what they wear and how they present themselves each and every day, a burden that can get heavier and heavier to carry year after year.
So how do you create style for yourselves?
Firstly, it’s like anything, to be good at something you need to put some time and effort into it. So you need to make a decision to do this and put some time aside daily to spend on developing your knowledge and skills around creating your own style.
The good thing here is that it’s just your style you have to worry about and not anyone else that will have a different personality, budget, body shape etc. a challenge that personal stylists deal with every day but a simple one if they have been trained well to tap into a person’s personal style and leave out their own likes and dislikes.
Start with some magazines or look online at celebrities and see if you can pick up the style you are attracted to, this will give you a guide on your own personal style. Next understand your body shape and the body features you like and dislike so you can choose clothes that balance your body shape and hide or highlight your body features.
Now it’s off to the shops to have a play, picking the clothes should be easier now that you have poured over the magazines looking at styles you like. Try different items on, mix and match, ask yourself a few questions, do you feel comfortable, does it fit correctly, does it balance your body shape. Look in the mirror, does the look represent who you are?
Now you need to continue this process every week and if you do you will find your eye and skill at picking things that suit you improve. There is no cheating here by doing everything online, it does not count unless you are touching, feeling and trying things on again and again, that’s when it will register and your knowledge and skill will increase.
Why are stylist good at this? It’s because this is what they do every day because they love it, so you too can do it and create a style that suits you.
