Three Ways To Wear – Cape
Welcome to our new monthly feature – Three Ways To Wear.
We have introduced a few new blog concepts of late and are testing the readership waters so that they may become regular monthly editions for you all to look forward to.
Now you’ve probably heard me use the term “wardrobe play” – an artful exercise which sees you play mix and match with your existing wardrobe items. It’s also about taking the time to create looks or perhaps rediscover some old favourites.
So today’s blog post was inspired by my own wardrobe play and I’ve decided to bring it to you.
Now how many of you buy a fashion piece and think; how else can I wear this?
I can feel heads nodding and some of you screaming yes, I do! Stay with me.
So halfway through Autumn I bought a beautiful cape from Cue and I’m constantly surprised by how many different ways I’ve managed to wear it and across many occasions, too.
While the cape is officially a cover up item, I’m not just pulling it out of the wardrobe as a lazy throw-over, creating a look takes a little effort and playing dress-ups is fun!
So here are three ways I’ve discovered to wear my Cue cape:
Casual
Smart casual
After Five
I also wanted to present to you an array of capes that are in-store at the moment covering all shapes and budgets.
Notice that the colour palette I’ve chosen is quite neutral which I’d always suggest with a statement piece like a cape.
The structure and sweeping design of a cape allows it to do the style work for you without having to wear bright colours or patterns (save that for your under layers).
Capes really are a great Autumn/Winter throw over for many outfits and can just bring that touch of classicism or edge you are looking for.
For faithful blazer wearers, capes can also be a great jacket alternative.
So I hope you’ve enjoyed the first edition of Three Ways To Wear and the item favoured by caped crusaders for years has inspired you to perhaps try a cape of your very own.
Tune in next month for more multiple-wearing ideas and in the meantime, if you have brought a cape for Winter – please share it with us via Facebook or Instagram. We’d love to hear from you!

Hi Cindy, loved this blog…I recently purchased a poncho! I have never owned one before. I was trying on skinny black jeans that I needed to wear with a tunic, when I saw this rolled neck, cable patterned neutral coloured poncho. I must say it looked very elegant, quite smart actually. What do you think about ‘belting it’ (lol not literally).? The cape looks brilliant in every picture.. something I would never think of buying. I think this weekend might be the wardrobe play time for me.
Cheers x

Love the looks Cindy!
I remember wearing capes as a 12 year old and loved them ever since. Just goes to show how fashion keeps on repeating in some shape or form.
All HOT looks but the white one is very luxurious!

Loved this blog so much I went to Target to buy the little cape jacket, but to my absolute horror it was not in my local store…aha…the light went on and I have now got it on order from their on-line store.
Living in regional WA it’s not always easy to get hold of the latest fashions, but I love the fact that you always use familiar labels that can be purchased in store or on-line.
I look forward to more inspiring style tips from you
