Chadstone Icons of Style Spring/Summer 16 Runway
We hope you enjoyed our introduction to Rachel Zoe last week.
Now it’s onto the fashion!
Lacey and I were invited to attend the Chadstone Icons of Style Spring/Summer 16 Runway. It’s the official launch to the SS16 collections and is always a delight to attend.
This year was particularly special due to my personal style icon – Rachel Zoe – in attendance with her husband.
Sounds cliché but there is no better to prep for a fashion show than with champagne in hand and mingling with the fashion industry, bloggers and local TV celebrities. It was also great to meet store managers representing their brands due to be featured that night.
By 7.15pm, we were seated with a brief introduction to Rachel before we were presented with the latest fashion trends.
The runway was beautifully curated and live singing replaced the usual DJ tunes to complement the models on stage.
The first looks were personally styled by Rachel and there was a sense of her signature 60’s, bohemian style.
Rather than a brand-focused runway, looks were presented in trends and naturally, we have them ready to go for you:
Nautical: Well the new nautical actually. Pieces are beautifully tailored in in red, blue, white. There is more block colour than stripes and you can still work in gold accents.
60’s Revival: The return of the mini dress, polka dots and geometrics. Don’t forget the cateye sunglasses.
Clashing Prints: Digital prints, exotic flowers, Mediterranean landscapes and strong geometrics all worn in mix and match combinations.
Plunging Necklines: Prepare for some Hollywood tape. This look was particularly evident in the jumpsuits and playsuits.
Off the Shoulder: The shoulder is the new midriff. You can work your Grecian goddess look in draped tops and dresses or opt for a classic strapless or capped sleeve LBD.
Goth Glam: Think black with sequins, shimmering fabrics, leather accents and black lace detail. Monochrome squeezes into this trend too.
Minimal White: Crisp, tailored, two-piece ensembles and classic styles.
Summer Suede: Earthy colours in 70’s inspired mini skirts, fringing, flat boots and accessories.
As always, it’s so difficult to pick favourites on a night like this, however CAMILLA, Willow and Zimmerman were stands outs for me personally.
You know I love black but I think summer is the best time to explore your most complimentary colours. There are so many print options this season and the revival of the polka dot and the 70’s patterns in earth colours suit many of us.
Hope you enjoy the photos from the night. As always, we’d love to hear from you. What do you think of the latest trends?

Hi Cindy, that show sounds great fun.
My fave look is photo pair #4 (counting from the top) – blonde model in a split vest
The 2 trends I am interested in are :
-Minimal White
-Suede
How odd though, to bring suede into our stores so late in the cold season. I could definitely have used the full-length, lined suede coat, which I just saw new in store, right from the beginning of winter. And every every retailer seems to have a lined suede skirt in their s/s range –wearable for now, but not for much longer 🙂
I can see your new hairstyle in more detail in these pics, which show that the fringe is beautifully cut ; and the shoulder length section proves that for you, long hair isn’t the only flattering length. I must say I am dying to see a back and side view! How are you finding styling your new cut every day, is it a learned skill?
