Autumn Style
I love this time of year!
Autumn is the perfect time to get creative with your style and to hit the shops to purchase some key versatile pieces.
What are versatile pieces for this time of year?
Well, I like to encourage those looking to get more wear out of purchases to look for items you can wear on their own, mix and match and then layer for Winter.
A quality pair of culottes, knit dress or black skirt is the perfect example for Autumn to Winter style.
Pair these pieces with ankle boots and then long boots or boots with tights in Winter.
Those that have room in the budget for some on-trend pieces can gravitate towards the bolder colours of Autumn this year, such as forest green and magenta.
Colours of the season and statement prints from your favourite stores are a lot of fun but they are trends, and they will feel dated as soon as they hit the sales rack end of the season!
My tip for purchasing statement prints, patterns and trends is to do so as soon as they land in stores.
I much prefer to buy things using my stylist & client discount or a storewide 10% or 20% off sale than during a markdown.
There are a few reasons for purchasing as soon as they land on the racks.
I love to be ahead of the season and wearing items that feel fresh before I see them become saturated later the season.
Sometimes I feel like I see some of the same items EVERYWHERE and the pieces lose their shine!
There is nothing better than wearing a new piece that many haven’t seen before and receiving compliments.
Now I know you might be thinking ‘But Cindy to justify a purchase I should wait for it to go on sale’… but hear me out!
While it may be tempting to wait for a sale, it is a false economy as you will get far more cost per wear out of the item if you are wearing it from the start of the season vs. near the end of season when you won’t reach for it as much as it already feels dated.
I also like to purchase the colours of the season for clients as soon as they land in stores.
Autumnal colours such a tan, orange, rust and green, are seasonal trend colours and rarely make it into another season without feeling tired so I like them to have a maximum rotation at the start of the season!
Did you know wearing colours that don’t suit you can not only drain your complexion but also age you?
If you are unsure of which colours suit your complexion, booking a session with one of our stylists will ensure you are dressed in the perfect colours to complement your colour characteristics.
Of course, if you have the budget to incorporate a few pieces into your wardrobe it is a lot of fun to celebrate the season!
One for this season is Check! Check is HUGE!
You can get really creative and wear check on check, incorporate one check piece with a versatile season after season favourite or buy a beautiful check coat.
Check is versatile this season in the fact that you can dress a check blazer up for work or down for play!
Transeasonal Shoes
One way to update your wardrobe fast is a fantastic boot.
Shoes can make or break an outfit and I have to say they can be really unflattering sometimes if you choose the wrong height or shape.
If you haven’t had a stylist go shoe shopping with you it is a must!
Tan and taupe are a gorgeous colour for Autumn and going into winter also, so you will get a lot of wear out of a versatile ankle boot if you pick a quality, comfortable style.
I’ve spoken before about my love of Jo Mercer, and I have to say that after decades of shopping in stores I am yet to meet an uncomfortable design. This is a completely unsponsored, unpaid endorsement as I simply love to share my finds with women who love style as much as I do!
Next year, if you have a little bit of extra budget to spend, I love a low ankle boot with a cutout for Summer -Spring.
My personal favourite for a versatile boot as I am sure you will all know is black!
I do love a killer white boot!! For all those fashion lovers out there not running around the streets after kiddies a white boot makes you feel pretty stylish!
I hope my blog has given you some inspiration.
What do you love about Autumn style?
