Six Steps To Complete Your Winter Wardrobe
If you’re in Melbourne, you might be wondering if winter has actually arrived. While the days are cool, we’ve been spoilt with endless sun and are yet to reach our winter peak.
Although in the fashion world, winter is in full swing!
Today, I invite you to come on a virtual shop with me to complete your winter wardrobe.
While EOFY is done and dusted, some stores have extended their sales so there is still a bargain to be had.
I know Chadstone is a big place, so I’ve done the research for you (you’re welcome) and sourced some winter pieces across different styles and price points – some are even on sale.
Now while I’ll never deny a balmy summer evening, when it comes to my wardrobe, I actually prefer winter fashion to summer.
Think long boots, warm winter coats, gloves, snow and frosty mornings.
It also means I get to be a little more clever with my wardrobe choices during a time that we rely very heavily on layering.
So if you’re still yet to complete your winter wardrobe, here’s some food for thought.
- Buy investment pieces: Wool coat, leather boots – they will last and last!
- Budget a little higher: Winter clothes are naturally more expensive as there is more fabric involved and it’s generally thicker. In all cases, I would choose warmth over price where you can.
- Think work wear: Try tran-seasonal blazers, tailored pants or this season’s culottes. You could also change up that work shirt for a block coloured knit to stay cosy particularly in those over air-conditioned offices!
- Buy basics: Winter is the time to buy those undergarments that include6 long sleeve T’s, winter tights, stock up on scarves and accessories to help rejuvenate your wardrobe.
- Accessorise: Stock up on scarves and accessories (gloves, hats) to help rejuvenate your wardrobe. This is a great place to work colour into your outfit as winter generally sees us wearing darker colours.
- Jeans: Jeans love being paired with a pair of winter boots and make a warm and versatile winter staple. Try a new style, denim colour and this is also a time that many of us can work a slimmer jean leg if we’re tucking them into long boots.
Now I must reiterate the power of layering in these cooler months. The ultimate objective is to be warm however you also get the visual benefit of a very interesting outfit.
It could be by using colour blocking or accessorising with a bright scarf or gloves. I urge you to play with your look and remember to “layer lightly” (thin yet warm fabrics such as Merino wool) to avoid looking bulky.
Layering is also great if you’re heading out and need a cover up from the car to an indoor venue. It means you don’t have to sit in the restaurant in a super large coat but can instead “peel” layers away.
So now it’s over to you. What will you be investing in this winter for your wardrobe? Do you like any of the pieces we’ve sourced?
You know what to do, tell us in the comments below how you’re shopping this Winter.
Stay warm!
