7 Personal Winter Favourites
This is the first winter in a long time where we’ve had so many fashion options – and from what I’m hearing, many of you are finding it challenging to shop 🙁
Usually it is spring/summer that delights us with an array of bold colours, floral fashion pieces and nautical finds.
But perhaps it’s the delightful weather that makes us welcome the abundance of options? ( Ok….today is excluded!)
So this year I’m giving credit to designers for their winter season that has retained our classic black, navy and grey styles but also ambitiously explored bold colours, patterns such as houndstooth and tailored an array of key pieces to suit almost everyone.
Today, I’d also like to help you with your winter shopping so I’ve selected seven key pieces that I think are a great addition to any wardrobe.
So if you’re struggling to find seasonal pieces, these seven are the ones that will get you through. And naturally, they can all be mixed and matched with each other.
- Winter Cardigan
This is such a fabulous item, perfect for layering, completely tran-seasonal and brings warmth without bulk.
- Blazer
Since the blazer moved on from the two-piece suit to join our dresses, denim and casual wardrobe, it is a key foundation piece. In this case, my blazer is simple and beautifully tailored. If you’re seeking a little edge, perhaps choose something with some detail or leather trim.
- Thick Ponti Legging
Slimming, warm and great to wear with your long boots, under your favourite dress or long line shirt. Opt for something plain and classic or a pleather/leather trim if you’re seeking something more on-trend.
- Winter Coat
From a Kate Middleton inspired classic to your feminine and playful Alannah Hill piece. We recently wrote a post on finding the perfect winter coat – get yours before the sales finish.
- Short Ankle Boots
Ankle boots are a great alternative to the long knee-high boot. They’re a winter essential and also tran-seasonal working well with a spring dress. They’re great for women who’d rather not tuck their calves into boots, they offer height for those who are a little petite while the wedged versions to wonders to elongate legs.
- Long Line Blouse
A softer look for the cooler weather is a long sleeve blouse. The longer silhouette of this top allows for easy layering and tucking. Worn with tailored pants or shirts, it offers a little more formality to your casual look.
- A crop knit
Wear this over the top of your long sleeve soft blouse. If your blouse has a collar, pop it out from underneath or wear it with a high waisted skirt with a touch of your midriff exposed (no lower than the belly button).
I hope you’ve enjoyed this selection of winter items and if you’ve found anything worthy of share, be sure to let us know in the comments below or on Facebook 🙂

My favourites – the black knee high boots I bought when I did my shop with you – yep, still got them, since then bought a tan pair as well! Merino wool long (A-line) cardigans, have one red and one navy both of which I use a lot. Most important is what I wear underneath – big fan of icebreaker merino wool for keeping warm. Icebreaker is known for adventure wear but it is not all like that, they have a fabulous range of singlets – long, short sleeved, and adjustable thin strap singlets so the neckline can be lowered! All in neutral colours! There is an outlet store in Brunswick St. 🙂 Best part about the icebraker range – machine washable and in fact does not need frequent washing because it does not get smelly (it is true, try it out for yourself!)

Love the versatility of all your pieces Cindy.
Most are trans seasonal and therefore very wise shopping, from both the budget and wardrobe point of view….advice we all need…makes life so much easier if there is a basis to build on. It all makes so much more sense.
Thanks
