Winter Style
Winter style has to be practical.
Winter style must be warm, layered and easy to wear when you are braving the big freeze.
I like to choose versatile investment pieces for the winter months that I can easily mix and match, dress up or down and add accessories to get a different look.
My stylists can certainly take you shopping in any store or with any budget, but there are a few key pieces I highly recommend investing in.
Here are a few examples that won’t break the bank, but are of great quality and versatility to ensure you get plenty of wears this season and next year too!
Investment Essentials for Winter
Midi Skirt
A midi skirt ( I am on the shorter side) which you can pair with many different top options is a great buy for winter.
It is also a great trans-seasonal piece that you can wear with different layering options and shoes in your wardrobe.
You can see how I have paired the same leather midi skirt with different top options for three different looks.

Knit Dress
A knit dress in black or a neutral colour is perfect for wearing over tights and adding accessories and different boot styles to change up your look.
Just be sure you wash your precious knits with care and fold rather than hang to ensure they last and look great.

Coat
A neutral colour wool coat is essential for the cooler states like Melbourne.
Make sure you pick the correct colours for your skin tone when buying investment pieces, and if you are unsure, consult with a personal stylist.
You can see camel looks gorgeous on my stepdaughter Briana but would completely wash out another client I shopped with on the same day.

Pants
Everyone needs a great pair of pants for when denim just won’t cut it.
I’m not talking about denim, I mean a dressier pant option that will elevate your look, that you can dress up or down and flatter your shape.
When choosing the right pant, there are many different factors when choosing the right cut, length and colour.
There are many ‘rules’ about body shape out there but they are confusing and often of little use.
You might misidentify your shape, not take into account your features and then not be able to distinguish one cut from another on the rack.
It becomes confusing, exhausting and disappointing which is why I encourage you to book a styling session to nail your purchases.

Blazer
A blazer is such a versatile piece for many months of the year.
There is so much to take into consideration when selecting the right cut of blazer, but when you choose the right one you look polished and sophisticated.

Boots
A great pair of boots that you will love season after season is a MUST in winter.
A pair of black boots are so practical but also flattering as they elongate the leg when worn with black pants.
If you are feeling bold go for white boots, they are my season after season staple but very on trend this year also.
I love Jo Mercer, I’m not sponsored in any way, I just love their styles, comfort and quality.

Black Dress
Everyone needs a black dress they feel confident in.
The one you slip into and feel a million bucks!
Don’t reserve your black dress for occasions, evenings or the office, make sure you pick a style you will wear casually also.

Accessories
I think every wardrobe deserves a beautiful handbag.
Or belt bag, or backpack or whatever bag makes you smile when you see it.
You use a bag every single day so make sure you love it.
The same goes for a belt, earrings or whatever your signature style piece is – your wardrobe should be a treasure trove of style you love.
This is my golden rule that I insist on all my clients, If you don’t 100% love it, save your money and move along!
You would be surprised how little you need when you only buy what you love, and how much you will save in the long run but end up with a much higher quality wardrobe.
Quality over quantity!!

Cindy xx
Hi Cindy – some great looks – thank you. I always enjoy your newsletters. And of course it’s impossible to go wrong with Jo Mercer (my favourite)- fantastic quality and edgy designs at great prices. For me this past year it’s all about bomber jackets (Decjuba every time) and block colour T-shirts (red / green) with interesting quipps on the front (mostly from Zara). I find I can wear this combination with work attire and casual and it works everytime. I’ve got too many boots both full length, over the knee and ankle but tend to opt more for Midas & Jo Mercer loafers in different colours which also work with everything. I find ankle boots – unless they leave the ankle exposed – make my legs look like sausages.
