Runway to Every Day Series: Part 6
Welcome to our last female Runway to Every Day model review as we introduce you to the delightful Dara!
Dara is 34 years of age and wears various sizes (like many of us), with a size 6 to 8 on the top and a size 10 on the bottom. Dara is a researcher and has completed the Style With Cindy personal trio of services: a wardrobe consultation, shop and make-up tuition.
Body Shape:
Dara has a triangle body shape that is also commonly referred to the infamous “pear” shape. In Dara’s case, this is defined by a wider bottom area (bottom, hips and thighs) that meets a narrow waist and smaller bust.
Our aim was to take the eye away from her lower half of the body and bring horizontal lines, accessories and cropped cardigans to support her top half.
Outfit One: Casual
With a touch of nautical inspiration, Dara’s first outfit is a bold nod to “The Sweet Life” fashion trend, also known as La Dolce Vita that is directed by the luxury associated with European fashion.
This dress is perfect for Dara’s triangle shape as it features two stripe directions: vertical on the bottom that slims out Dara’s lower body and horizontal stripes on the top to widen her top section.
To further draw the eye to her top half, we’ve also added a bold orange necklace. This orange colour complements the neutral coloured shoes and belt that cinch in Dara’s waist giving her a beautiful shape.

Outfit Two: Smart Casual
In this outfit, we’ve played with a top to toe baroque print for Dara. The repetitive pattern is very flattering and the beige and black colour palette of this dress effortlessly translate it to its’ “smart casual” status.
The dress itself is quite structured and features pleating in the bottom half. Although many triangle shapes may avoid pleating, it works in this piece as the pleating begins at Dara’s small waist.
While the print is the same on the top and bottom, we’ve used accessories as the draw card to bring the eye to Dara’s top half.
The black patent accessories are quite strong in this outfit, with the belt highlighting Dara’s waist and the sling strap drawing a flattering line from her top to her lower hip. We’ve further complemented this look with bronze metallic accessories that create further eye-catching points.

Outfit Three: Evening
Green has been a huge colour this year since Emerald was named Pantone’s colour of the year and has injected fashion all year round – it also works beautifully with Dara’s natural colouring.
We loved this look on Dara and she effortlessly carried this striking green dress. We only needed simple black accents to work with the black polka dot print of the dress; keeping the cardigan cropped to shape Dara’s top half with a patent belt that cinches in her waist.
We’ve filled the top of Dara’s body with detail from the embellishment on the cardigan (which removes the need for a necklace) while the belt features a bow and coloured polka dots to link in with the dress pattern. Simple peep toe heels are in a similar colour to the dress with a bow on top that tie in with the belt and help create the overall feminine look.
