Summer 14/15 Trends You’ll be Seeing

With our AW 14 trend forecast wrapped up, I’m fast-forwarding a season or two away to bring you the final part in our trend series: Spring/Summer 14/15.

Our current Summer has delighted us with flattering monochromatic patterns (namely, black and white), we’ve enjoyed a relaxed take on glamour noted as sports luxe and we’ve rediscovered our inner woman through the feminine trend of La Dolce Vita: a trend that brought seaside Mediterranean fashion to Australian shores.

The upcoming SS 14/15 season is looking fabulously fun and feminine. We will see an array of trends beginning with softer hues right through to explosive floral and digital prints all teamed with “shiny” statement accessories.

While our next summer may seem worlds away, consider this your exclusive fashion forecast so you can be prepared better than anyone when the trends hit the stores.

So here are the top five trends that I believe Australians will be coveting for SS 14/15.

Please Note: Before I introduce these I need to make a little disclaimer.  While some of the images below depict the extreme of a trend it does not mean that we will dress our clients this way, the decision on a style is dictated by the clients personality along with careful consideration to their lifestyle and age, then only subtle use of a trend is used to ensure the clients look is stylish and up to date, the client must feel confident that it reflects who they are on the inside, and most importantly, they love it!!

Fun Florals

Fashion will be in full bloom as florals receive a huge makeover. We’re not talking chintzy prints, SS 14/15 will see florals deliver serious wow factor to our wardrobes with oversized and strong prints in bold colour combinations.

This trend will make for a versatile look for Australian women seeking to incorporate florals into their casual lifestyles. Prints will be seen across skirts, dresses, tops and jackets, mix & match, floral on floral, eclectic graphics and 3D prints.

There is nothing out-dated nor understated about this trend. Consider it the power print of the season.

Peaches and Cream

This trend will be as delicious as it sounds where we will wear pastels and pale delicate hues at our most feminine outings, think high tea and cupcakes.

However, don’t think this trend will be plain and ordinary, this season will bring a rainbow of colours from minty green, to lilac and soft blue tones that can be worn in a head to toe look. There will be an array of fabrics from delicate lace, soft silks and the purest of cotton to keep us cool on warmer days.

This look can be easily worn to the office making a killer girly statement in strong and elegant silhouettes – perfect for those wanting to exude their femininity. We’ll also be wearing peaches and cream in our sporty attire, a look that will heavily attract the Australian market due to our expansive, outdoor lifestyle.

Metallic

SS 14/15 will see us incorporate metallics into our wardrobe in an array of forms. our handbags, shoes and clothes will shine of rich golds and sharp silvers all the way through the warmer months.

Iridescent fabrics and metallic in satins will add a cool edge that can be incorporated with everyday looks while the trend will bring a touch of luxe and glamour to an evening look.

For those preferring not to sport the full shiny vibe, accessories and wearing one metallic clothing separate will give you an understated take on this “out there” trend.

Transparency

SS 14/15 will once again play peek-a-boo with our fabrics giving the outside world a glimpse as we show off a touch of skin.

Our Aussie tans (even our faux ones) will be gleaming through sheer panels in light airy fabrics that will feature in almost all areas of clothing. Cut outs in dresses are back, transparency in shirts, tops and skirts will come in all forms of sheer fabrics (lace, mesh etc.) making it suitable for our hot summer climate!

Now this trend can quickly move from classy and chic to a downright bust (literally). Remember to keep some part of you to the imagination and only “bare” in small sections.

Plentiful Pleats

We welcome back the pleated skirt for SS 14/15: it will be softer and more feminine.

This season will see metallic pleats feature in mini, midi and maxi hemlines appealing to women of all shapes and sizes. We’ll also see the trend flowing through dresses and into tops.

This is a perfect trend to incorporate with the tougher trends of military and leather bringing an edge to this feminine look.

While pleats have been recognised as “officially” on-trend, they remain extremely timeless and make for a great wardrobe staple. For style inspiration, look to Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly who wore pleats endlessly and perfectly.
