5 Fashionable Ways To Beat The Heat
When the weather is scorching, some of us find it hard to cope.
The heat, the sun, the frizzy hair for some of us and that awful feeling of clingy fabric.
Okay, perhaps that’s a little dramatic but it does happen to some of us as temperatures soar into the 30/40 degree range.
With the festive season passed you may have also put on a little bit of unwanted weight! So if you are looking some some slimming down undergarments check out this post – How to control your bits with shapewear 🙂
So for those of us that feel the heat, it can be much more appealing to collapse in front of the air conditioner than leave the house.
However, we do need to go out and be social and that means braving the Aussie heat.
So today, a few items I’ve found to keep you cool yet fashionable.
Finally, a few little tips.
- Always carry water and sunscreen– mine is always with me. You’d be surprised how quickly you can burn from sitting outside for just 15min for that afternoon drink.
- Opt for thin and lightweight fabrics, preferably a fabric that breathes. Think natural fibers like cotton and wool.
- This is not a good time to layer, but if you do need a cover up to survive Melbourne’s four seasons in one-day syndrome, keep it light.
- Floaty dresses are wonderful for this weather but if they’re a little too feminine for you, try a jumpsuit.
- Keep a hair-tie on hand for hair-up should you need it and opt for open footwear. Sandals, slides or leather open-toe wedges to keep your feet cool.
Today’s looks are meant to be light and breezy but still hold shape. In summer, we can quickly reach for large floaty tops and loose pants forgetting that it could be making us look larger, shorter or wider.
So keep your focus on the fabric and look to find clothes that flatter your body shape without clinging to your skin.
Clingy fabric will only make you hotter – not in the good-looking type of way, but the sweaty, “I’ve just come out of the sauna” kind of way.
Keep cool and hope you enjoyed this shop with me!

Unfortunately all of your ‘keep cool’ suggestions are for those of us who can go sleeveless. YOU have great arms – but mine are horrible.
What about those heat strategies for those who have to have a sleeve?? Any ideas??

Hi Shashi,
The great thing about having sleeveless items is that you can always add a lightweight layer over the top!

Thank you Shashi, have a great weekend! 🙂
