A Thank You to India
Looking back to a few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to spend 10 amazing days visiting India.
India was not on my list of countries to visit, however when the opportunity arose to speak at the Women Economic Forum I jumped at it!
My reflection on this visit is quite mixed.
I was told to expect third world and I’ve been to a few third world countries but this was a whole new level!
My blog, however, is not really about the country but my experience. I attended a seminar with women from all over the world, so the range of cultures was quite varied.
What has overwhelmed me, was the enormous movement between these women toward inspiring, celebrating, supporting and empowering women.
I know in my Professional Styling Academy I push on my students training to become Personal Stylists the importance of being supportive, non-judgemental of each other and using each other as a support network.
We as women are role models for our future generations.
I strongly believe in looking at other women around us not as our competitors but as our sisters.
We are all in this life together! Support, love and general care of one another is what we should all be doing!
The people I met in India and my experiences will be with me forever.
One speaker out of the many I listened to brought me to tears.
I asked her if I could use her affirmation and share throughout my work.
This is by Juliette Willoughby:
Bent, Not Broken
I embrace each failure
I grow from each change I take
I am here for a reason
I live into that reason
I honour my success
I awake each morning with a plan
I accept myself as I am
I honour my truth
I create my own state of mind
If someone else wants to reside there
They must pay rent
I am thankful for each aperture
I have become stronger for each one has healed by forgiveness, hope, joy empowerment and enoughness
I bend but never break
I may be bent, but I am not broken.
So, behind every successful woman is herself.
But as women, we have the opportunity to build other women up!
I was honoured to receive the speaker’s award at the event, and what made me feel the most grateful was the warm, genuine heartfelt congratulations that I received from other women celebrating my achievement.
Just another example of women building each other up!
India I thank you!
I would love the hear from you about when the women in your life helped to build you up.
Let inspire each other!
