Winter has arrived!
Many of our clients at Style With Cindy have been investing in on-trend key winter pieces that will be on repeat in their winter wardrobe this season.
What do our stylists look for when we are finding our clients key pieces for winter?
We ask our clients would they like on-trend pieces for this season or pieces that will last many winters?
Perhaps they would like a bit of both?
This week I am sharing just some of the key pieces and trends of this season and next week I will focus on classic repeat winners you can pick up on sale!
As always I like to avoid using real models so as to use varied body shapes and sizes, so our volunteers for the photo shoot this week are Natalie from our admin team and our Melbourne stylist Vanessa.
I am so grateful for them offering to be in the shoots as we aren’t professional models it is quite daunting to be in front of the camera!
So let’s talk this season’s style!
Street Style Cool with On-trend Detail
This season you will find street style is edgier with the addition of texture such as pleating, ruffles and embellishments such as buttons on boots, detail on jeans with quirky pockets and zips, additional studs and textured statement bags.
Boots are edgier, sexier and it is even ok to show a little more skin this winter with off the shoulder and textured transparent tops bringing an on-trend edge to your look.
Knits this season are oversized, as stylists, we still recommend creating shape with your knits.
This means we have selected knits with on-trend oversized sleeves, the perfect necklines but still with detail that cinches in all the right places just like this knit from Witchery.
As always every season there are trend colours.
This season, soft pink, wine/burgundy, green and navy are very big.
Wine/burgundy will most likely not have the longevity of the other colours for next year, but will certainly have you at the forefront of fashion for this season.
There are so many options for wine/burgundy this season, blazers, leather jackets, pants, soft blouses and even boots!
If you need help deciphering which colours work for you and enhance your look, we have colour consultations available in Melbourne.
Long Dresses and Statement Boots
Longer styles are hot this season and look fantastic with this season’s edgy boot and bag options.
While this maxi is too long for myself, after a little tailoring it would also highlight my knee length boots which if you haven’t tried are so incredibly warm for winter!
Check, Tartan & Texture!
This season it is all about check, tartan and varied textures of wool, mohair and soft snuggly fabrics.
We have even seen chenille make a come back! I can promise you velvet is as close as I recommend!
Though making a statement is not for everyone, if you would like to play with these exciting styles and textures head to Cue for a perfect selection!
This season coats have ample lapels, statement pockets and buttons, varied thick textures including velvet and are appearing everywhere in plaid/checks.
If you are looking for an on-trend style, Cue has some fantastic options, as does Ted Baker and Seed has a large range of affordable jackets and coats in this season’s hues.
You may have noticed that the mid-year sales have started early this year!
Retailers have gone out earlier than usual but there is still plenty of wear to get out of on sale styles which is just an added bonus for shoppers and clients!
Check out the stores this week to see if some of these styles are on sale – I bet they are!
Happy shopping and styling!
