Autumn fashion has arrived!

Today on the blog I explore the latest Autumn style and trends that you will be seeing in stores.

How wearable are these trends this season?

As a stylist, I can immediately gravitate towards what suits me, without being faced in the mirror by what does not!

While I would normally head straight towards pieces I know will be perfect, the aim of our blogs is to showcase how to wear the latest in fashion in stores now.

This season personally, I have found the cuts, styles and prints challenging for my body shape, proportions and my personal taste.

Faced with this frustration while shooting the blog, it did bring to mind how deflating it must be as an everyday shopper trying on numerous styles of the seasons and repeatedly feeling frustrated, disappointed and not great about yourself!

So, what do I want every woman to take away from the blog today?

New styles are often called a trend – and for good reason!

Trends can be quite difficult to wear for a number of reasons, for example, the colour is out there, or the style might be unforgiving on most body shapes.

That is why they go out of style vs. flattering classic pieces.

A trend will come and go and sometimes the hottest trends just don’t suit you.

That is ok!

When a new season brings pieces that suit and I adore I revel in experimenting with my style as it is fun and creative.

This season I am channelling all that creativity into my client’s and making their oversize knits, check and floral dreams come true!! 😉

So here is inside scoop on what’s in store!

 

Autumn Trends

Checks

You will see checks everywhere this season in a playful bold gingham print for jumpsuits, mini-skirts and statement pieces, and more classic check on blazers and trousers.

Traditionally checks are an Autumn staple, and this season it seems to be really dominating.

Winter coats, shirts, skirts and tailored suiting will all feature the pattern of the season.

I recommend steering away from checks on your lower half if you have a trouble areas on your hips and thighs.

 

 

 

Power Dressing & Tailored Suiting

This season you will see tailored suiting and strong, sharp lines in separates.

The key pieces of the season will be an expertly tailored blazer or trench with equally on-point pants. This trend means you will most likely be heading into your local alterations place to get that effect of that tailored perfection.

You can see in this photo I would need tailoring!!

 

 

Florals

Florals are exotic, bold and intoxicating.

Dark prints in navy, mahogany, black and white all giving that luxe forbidden garden look.

The prints are large and but intricate in detail and beautifully feminine.

 

 

 

Colours of the Season: Burgundy & Green 

Rich, bold, sophisticated burgundy is hot for accessories including boots, bags and key winter pieces including pants, jeans, jackets and knitwear.

Deep rich greens are stars of the season this year.

 

Unique Statement Leather Jackets, Bags & Ankle Boots

Mini bags, round bags, oversized bags as long as it makes a statement it is perfect for Autumn.

Witchery and Jo Mercer have a great range this season to check out.

Ankle boots in rich shades and textures plus classic black leather are the essential shoe of the season.

Don’t forget a leather jacket to finish off your look.

 

Classics with this season twists – Knits Oversized & Classic styles – White Hot 

This season bigger is better in slouchy knits, including off the shoulder with expertly scrunched sleeves.

Not an overly flattering style for those of us who are petite but a lovely, comfy smart casual style.

White is having a major moment bringing a fresh twist to classic styles.

White is the star of your look rather than a complementary colour in your basics.
