What To Wear For Valentines Day 2015
A sea of red roses and an overdose of chocolate.
Yes, it’s almost Valentine’s Day.
It is the one-day of the year that you either love or hate.
Sure, Valentine’s Day can be considered over-commercialised if you think about the cards, over-priced flowers, gifting and of course, the thousands of rehearsed marriage proposals.
On the contrary, it can be a very romantic day. One that reminds us to take time out with our loves, make a date and dress up.
It might be your first Valentine’s Day with your partner, it could be a first date? (Oooh, send me details!)
If you’re single lad or lady, it might be the day where you band together with your friends and make a dinner or mockery of it.
And of course, there are those that think it’s “just another day” and “Valentine’s day should be everyday”.
Okay, enough analysing. With so many scenarios, today’s blog is dedicated to those who WILL be celebrating the most romantic day of the year.
So if you’re going to jump onto the Valentine’s Day festivities, let’s do it in style.
Yes, the what to wear for Valentine’s Day question is looming and I’m here to help.
Now, what you wear will depend on many factors with location directing your decision!
Dress $259 with French connection clogs on the left and Nine west heels on the right ($149.95). Black and white clutch is from Cue $49.50
Red has long been seen as the colour of Valentine’s Day due to the colour of our red heart. However, we’re not all made to wear red so perhaps a black dress teamed with a red shoe or red accessories can still do the trick.
Being February in Australia the weather can still be quite warm so a fresh white dress, jumpsuit or white-on-white ensemble with a touch of red lipstick could also work.
If you’re outdoors, think about your footwear. Wedges, a chunky heel or embellished flats will work best and to avoid any Marilyn Monroe moments (particularly if you’re on your first date) wear a heavier fabric and not so breezy skirt/dress.
I’d also love to remind you to focus on the little things this Valentine’s Day. Do your hair differently, get a manicure or paint your nails yourself. Play with a new make-up look and explore a fresh look for the evening.
If you have the figure for it, a body con figure hugging dress could be an option for you. Work in some shape wear here if you’re not super confident but still want to try this look.
This is a way of dressing sexy without too much leg or cleavage exposed.
Remember that sexy can be a dress with a cut-out, a sheer overlay or fitted jeans and a pair of heels. It doesn’t necessarily mean, “skin on show”.
We won’t be discussing it today but if you’re wearing lingerie, make sure it fits you correctly and you’re not showcasing VPL (Visible Panty Line), camisoles scrunching beneath your top or dress or exposed bra straps.
Or better yet, your gentleman might buy you some beautiful lingerie for your Valentine’s Day gift.
Oh, another tip. Try keeping your wrist and necklace line accessory-free for that possible gift…
Yes, a little cheeky but it can work! 🙂
And finally ladies, as with all of my blogs, I have a few reminders:
- Be comfortable
- Wear clothes suitable to your body shape, nothing too small or too large
- Love what you’re wearing so that you don’t spend your evening fidgeting with your outfit
- Take your lipstick compact with you for touch-ups after that V-Day kiss
Happy Valentine’s Day!
