Wearing Winter Dresses in Spring
Many women who come to Style With Cindy for personal styling will say no to skirts and dresses.
We ask “Any particular reason?” and usually the answer is, I don’t like my legs.
It doesn’t dawn on a lot of women that wearing tights or long boots is an option which is really very flattering and opens up a plethora of options for skirts and dresses!
It is also difficult for many women to style a dress, to come up with the correct shoe options and accessories.
I would love to share a few looks with you today to get you feeling inspired for those cooler days in Spring and transitioning to the warmer weather!
Long Maxi Style Dresses
You can keep warm during the cooler days by wearing your favourite long-sleeved flowing maxis with ankle or knee length boots.
This style from Cue is beautiful in design with enough pattern to keep accessories to a minimum and let the dress do the talking.
Keep in mind some of these dresses are too long for me, and require altering but it gives you an idea of the look!
Knit Dresses
A style that I love, but difficult for those of us on the shorter side!
A knit dress is wonderful as it also hugs in the right places to create shape and the beautiful textures not only look great but feel luxurious. You can transition into the warmer weather from long boots to even an open toe shoe.
Creative Style
You can still be creative in dresses that are tran-seasonal, layers can be incredibly useful, especially as spring in Melbourne can feel like Winter more often than not!!
We love pulling together styles from stores such as Gorman and adding a leather jacket if it suits our client’s personal style!
You can also play around with mules, ankle boots of different styles with fun details and wooden or metallic heels and bare legs.
Styles For Work
Creating a look for the office doesn’t have to be boring!
Texture, pattern and print plus an impressive shoe selection can have you looking professional and stylish!
Pinafores are an excellent buy as you can easily change up your look by pairing with different shirts underneath, once again great with the weather continually fluctuating.
Investing in a great pinafore cost per wear will be very affordable, but if you are on a very tight budget Forever New, Portmans and Dotti have great options available.
Dresses for Special Occasions
Dressing for a special occasion, especially on a cooler day in spring can be tricky for women.
On cooler days, you can still opt for a Winter look with thick textures, higher necks, longer hemlines and long boots if it works for the event. With warmer Spring days, opt for fabrics that are lighter, but once again, we can’t count on the weather behaving, especially in Melbourne, so always have a pashmina or cardie on hand if the weather changes.
Share with me your tips for wearing trans-seasonal dresses!!
