Holiday Looks Without A Budget Blowout

Okay, hands up who out there is Christmas gift shopping but secretly making purchases for themselves for the holiday break?

I can virtually feel some subtle hand raises so know you’re not alone!

It is certainly the season to start thinking about shorts, singlet’s, lightweight dresses and the key items that are going to get us through what’s forecasted to be a very hot summer.

The holiday season brings with it a multitude of opportunities to dress up from the office work party to Christmas day itself. With that also comes casual Summer days, balmy evenings and poolside looks.

However, I also know that while some of you may be searching for a look, you may also need to give that credit card a break with Christmas and all that it entails weighing you down.

So today, I’ve sourced a collection of items from various stores to demonstrate that just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t look festive.

Melrose Ave left $45, middle $25 and right $49.95

To get the best out of your holiday wardrobe, let’s start with some key tips when shopping on a budget:

  1. First, let’s remove any guilt of shopping for yourself. The holiday season is all about giving and this includes a little something for you, so enjoy it.
  2. While price may dictate your shopping choice, try and seek items with higher quality fabrics and check the stitching for pieces well put together.
  3. Classic and neutral colours always have a way of “looking” more expensive so have a try. For festive looks, bring in some sequins or a touch of metallic.

Now as always, you don’t need to buy a full look, feel free to work in pieces you already have. So maybe freshen up a skirt ensemble with a new top and it’s amazing how good last year’s sandals might look with a new maxi dress.

I hope this inspires you to dabble outside the square… as you never ever know – that inexpensive purchase may just turn out to be your ideal summer go to piece!! 🙂

Have fun ladies.

Wow. Wow. Don’t you just rock kmart and jeans west. Amazing. So funny. My girlfriend who was a international model and lives in a bayside well to do location bought the same red top. She often buys from kmart and jeans west. And always looks amazing. No one would ever know. She wore the red one to a Xmas party. Goes to show it’s how you wear it allot of the time. Great post. Merry Xmas cheers Now more to spend on fine champagne??
