Morrison: Product Investigation

There is so much that I love about my job and outside the obvious of helping someone to improve their personal style, is the opportunity to explore new brands and view product before it reaches the store.

Following the success of our tour in Jigsaw posted last week, today I’d like to showcase a few pictures of the winter collection at Morrison– an Australian fashion brand.

The brand looks to be family inspired with Kylie Radford and her husband Richard Poulson along with their loyal Kelpie Morrison opening their first store in Fremantle, Western Australia in 2002. Today they have seven stores nationally including one at Chadstone and another anticipated space that will soon be open at Melbourne’s Emporium.

Morrison

Kylie, Richard and myself 🙂

The ladies in store took us through Morrison’s basic range as well as some of the brands key statement pieces.

Like many stores at the moment – thank you end of financial year 🙂 – there are a number of clothing items on sale so it’s definitely worth a venture.

Morrison is focused on crisp tailoring and beautiful fabrics. You’ll find natural fibers, open weaves, organic and soft cottons along with refined silks.

Effortlessly exuding elegant and sophisticated pieces, you will love the timeless silhouettes. Offering both structured shapes and flowing fabrics that are ideal for layering.

Their basic pants are wonderful. They’re beautifully tailored and work well with Morrison’s long and short singlets – the ideal layering duo.

I absolutely love the Velcro wide leg pant that has been reinvented for 2014 winter. These pants are a great option for ladies who are concerned about their thighs and are seeking a wider leg to help balance their shape.

There is also something quite powerful about a strong, tailored and structured wide pant particularly when teamed with a statement heel for ultimate effect.

Morrison also offers a pant in a narrow cut – no zips and no pockets – they are very flattering especially across the tummy.

Ladies you’ll also enjoy the generous sizing range that begins from XXS to about a size 16.

Now for my favourite picks:

I loved the Renoir wide leg pant (on sale) in it’s beautiful textured fabric and flat front for great tummy concealing.

The timeless Ariel top that can be worn back to front is a great wardrobe staple along with the Arliss dress in its’ gorgeous blue hue and gathered hemline. This versatile piece can be belted under/over or worn loose and flowing.

Morrison’s incredible leather jacket (RRP$799) features a great centre zip which suits most body shapes and their little Andie Vest can be worn in so many different ways, even as a dress!

Liquid Leather Vest $499

Quite a few of these pieces featured are already working their way into my wardrobe and complementing so many of my existing pieces thanks to their classic style.

I hope you enjoyed this style post and I encourage you to head in store and have a play as the team at |Chadstone were a delight!!

It’s also a bonus to know you’re helping to support a thriving Australian designer.

As always, if you do buy anything or need help choosing, do let us know or be brave and post a pic!

    Hi Cindy,

Went into Morrison yesterday and the girls were fantastic! I tried on just about everything in the store to see how they looked off the hanger. I was blown away by the originality of the styles and the fabrics were beautiful against the skin. I found I was a little too small (size 6) for most of the clothes, but saw a lot of potential for girls size 8 and upward. So much fun playing and learning.

What a timely post – I was only in their last week and thought what would Cindy say about a lot of these clothes. There’s variety for different body shapes, and great quality of clothing, so I think it’s worth the investment as long as the piece suits. I was, however a bit too hesitant to make any purchases as I was a little overwhelmed. But I might try a re-venture in and try some items on. Thanks for the post.

Hi….just saw this now! I have not had the time to get in to Morrison this week to have a play so I hope to next week. I have not worked in their much over the years due to body shape, so I’m looking forward to venturing in more, so I hope you do too!
