One Piece Winter Options
Buying a new winter dress can be like walking through a maze, the choices are endless and even beginning the shop can be a challenge, where to shop? What cut? and then price variations!!!!!
As temperatures drop, you may reach for pants, jeans and jackets that cover almost ever inch of skin. However, some of us who are looking for a more womanly winter will enjoy this blog as we aim to showcase an array of stylish dresses across different price points and body shapes.
Remember that a winter dress needs to be versatile and be able to be used as a layering tool. Winter dresses will generally feature material that is thicker and warmer (e.g. wool and leather) however for additional warmth are teamed with tights, jackets and foundation tops underneath.
You’ll also notice sleeves on many of the dresses run from long to capped while many styles will feature high backs and necklines for warmth. This is where you might have to play with scarves, jacket length and jewellery (necklaces etc.) to get the right balance for your body shape.
In terms of style, there is always a touch of sixties inspiration that finds its way into winter. Think mod-style dresses in plain hues, colour block or seasonal prints. There are also more romantic shaped dresses for those seeking something a little more feminine while strong, structured dresses in leather will cater for the edgy customer.
With colour, bright shades are generally reserved for summer while winter will deliver a host of Deep cooler colours, Warm deep tones, muted prints, dark florals and charcoal and navy. The only contrast in this particular season is crisp winter white which looks great when teamed with monochromatic clothing and accessories or blended back with soft neutral tones.
I love a dress at the best of times so to me there is no thought involved in the process of dressing other than what shoes and accessories to wear. If you have long winter boots dresses are a great option for the very many of you who shy away from showing off your legs. Winter tights will hide knees and varicose veins if these issues deter you from baring your legs in summer.
I hope that this blog will inspire many of you to go and buy yourself a winter dress, feel feminine and sexy and break away from the trousers rutt!

Thanks for the Winter dress wrap-up Cindi, fantastic!
I’d love your advice on layering under sleeveless winter dresses – what are your top tips for avoiding a turtle neck or shirt under a dress like the pinstripe from looking like school uniform?!
Thanks!

Out of the ones you have shown above? I love both of the Karen Millen. I don’t visit the shops much so I haven’t had a look around, especially for dresses. That’s why I like your blogs. I will be checking out some dresses next time I visit Canberra though. If I buy one, I will post you a pic! x

Great blog Cindy,
Opens up a whole new perspective on working with winter dresses. I walked into the doctor’s surgery today and the receptionist was wearing one of the Target dresses. Well, you could have picked me up off the floor! She looked amazing!
Just demonstrates how important it is to keep an open mind. I also love the layering concept, because having a wardrobe that works through the seasons makes so much economical sense, especially for those of us on tight budgets. Love the variety too!
