Three Ways: To Wear A Roll Neck
The good old roll neck – don’t you just love a classic? 🙂
Speaking of the classics, I have beautiful memories of Audrey Hepburn’s statement look that generally involved black and a roll or high neck top/dress.
Think Ms Hepburn in Funny Face wearing a gorgeous black roll neck teamed with black cigarette pants and her hair pulled back in a neat bun – just sheer elegance.
The roll neck is a timeless piece which many of us may already have deep in our closets only to be brought out when winter truly hits.
In terms of runway trends, men seem to have all the roll up fun (a classic gentleman look) but the roll neck is getting a revamp for women this season encouraging us to channel our inner sixties chick.
So today I’ve put together three key looks that I hope can inspire you to try this old favourite plus a series of Style With Cindy tips:
Style Tips:
- 1. A roll neck is not ideal for those of you larger in the bust, however a scarf or long necklace can break up the expanse of the chest area. Try it.
- 2. For those with rounder faces, don’t immediately eliminate yourself as a roll neck wearer – just opt for a wider neckline, something not so bunchy.
How To Roll Up:
Roll necks make for a great base layer particularly if they’re in a cashmere/wool fabric and a great layering piece. Try wearing them:
- Under a crop top
- Under a tunic dress
- Short roll neck over a long blouse
-
Team with an a-line skirt, pencil skirt or tailored trouser
- For a casual style, opt for a more textured and slouchy roll neck teamed with jeans
See below for a few more staple options 🙂
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s looks and tips and if you have your own roll neck look you’d like to share, please upload a pic below or on our Facebook page – we’d love to hear from you!
Stay warm!
