AFL Grandfinal: What To Wear This Weekend
This weekend the AFL Grand Final kicks off with celebrations across the country making for an action packed social calendar.
While I am not a huge footy fan myself, I love the opportunity to catch up with friends and family and enjoy the beautiful Spring weather that usually surrounds the finals.
Here in Melbourne we have a long weekend, with so much planned from Grand Final Day Eve drinks to Saturday barbeques it will be jam packed!
I thought I would share with you some outfit inspiration for the fun weekend ahead!
Life With Bird’s Stay Golden Dress is a layered viscose dream, floaty with cut away shoulders, it is incredibly flattering for the triangle with divine detail around the neckband and on the back. For those that love wearing black or white this is an exciting print for the wardrobe. While it is best to let the dress do the talking with minimal accessories, let your shoes do the translating from day to night. A black mule says afternoon lunch or drinks in the sun while the game is on then a pair of strappy heels says dinner and dancing later!
Culottes are huge this season! While black is the most classic choice, be daring and try Seed’s Saffron wide legged wonders! These culottes have a relaxed silhouette and elasticised waistband and can be teamed with an off the shoulder white or chambray top with blouson sleeves to really perfect the carefree vibe.
How fresh and effortless is this check slip dress from Sportsgirl? Easily take this piece from day to night, from a footy barbeque to drinks at the local it is bringing back the 90’s at their best. Speaking of the 90’s resurgence, if you haven’t snapped up a pair of mules run don’t walk to Tony Bianco or Jo Mercer for the perfect pair.
This white hot bomber jacket is an investment piece that you can take from season to season to elevate any look. Here it is styled sitting on the shoulders to give the impression of a cape and to really make a statement. White on white with the cut-out details is a sexy and confident look, with the skinny leg pant adding even more drama. A patterned or printed pant is excellent for an inverted triangle, however for a triangle especially with bigger thighs it is a big styling no no!
Stripes are classic but do not have to be conservative. Veronika Maine have nailed this season’s contrasting stripe with separates that can be easily mix and matched but are versatile enough to go with just about anything already in your wardrobe. Stripes are complimentary to so many basics to transform a monochromatic look into a bold statement or refined elegance.
This look utilises contrasting horizontal and vertical stripes in a similar tone to create statement look. Stripes are fantastic for a variety of styling purposes as they can create the illusion of balanced proportions when correctly placed on the body.
Easily the most chic relaxed and loose comfortable dress in stores, this gorgeous off the shoulder chambray dress from Seed is perfect for running around after the kids at a footy backyard barbeque. This is fabulous for hiding a tummy and will take you well into the warmer months being made from 100% cotton it breathes like a dream! Play with accessories with this dress to dress up or down, a playful wide brim hat and mules for this look brings a fashion edge while wearing with flats will bring a casual cool.
I hope I have inspired you to get celebration ready!
