What to Wear When
Every big event on the Spring Racing Calendar has specific dress codes and traditions which you need to reflect in your look.
Here is some outfit inspiration for the differing dress codes… all you need to do is pick the perfect complementing race day accessories!
You will see a new face on the blog today – my beautiful client Tash has generously offered to help out!
Melbourne Cup Day
Melbourne Cup Day is for bold colours, prints, and outfits that make a statement!
From your elegant signature style with a beautiful fascinator or hat to your style dialled up to over the top there is no such thing as overdressed.
There is no shortage of colour, pattern print, and variety… you will see it all Melbourne Cup Day!
Ladies this season will radiate fun in bold colours such as cobalt blue, golden yellow & fuschia.

However, you can keep the look elegant and toned down, rather than OTT (if that’s not your personality!).
Derby Day
Black and White is the traditional dress code for the sophisticated and elegant race day.
The monochrome palette really lends to classic styling with show-stopping headwear including crowns, fascinators, and hats.
Perfect for selecting your very favourite white or black dress from your wardrobe or heading out to stores to pick a new timeless, elegant piece that can be worn again and again.
Who doesn’t love a versatile classic black dress?
Aren’t sure which cut and style to invest in?

Here are few examples of some looks to team with your perfect race day accessories.
Crown Oaks Day
Ladies day is the ultimate day of style, all about femininity, elegance, and romance.
Pretty’ would be one word to describe the overall dress code for Oaks Day, while also bringing your signature style and personality to your look.
Look for romantic ruffles, florals, pinks, creams, whites and vintage styles to fit reflect the femininity of the event.
A wonderful one-stop shopping destination for Oaks Day is Forever New.
Forever New is feminine and ranging a large variety of shoes, clutches, jewellery, and fascinators to complete your outfit.
Jo Mercer is a fabulous choice for comfortable, feminine footwear and Lovisa for romantic accessories.
Stakes Day
Family Day of fun and frivolity is the best way to describe the vibe and dress code of Stakes Day.
A relaxed day to let your style personality shine with a focus on playful young fashion.
Straw hats, mix and match separates, wedges and even flats are fashion approved for Stakes Day.
If there is a day to make the most of your current wardrobe, this is it!
On a budget?
If you can’t justify buying a new dress for the races, pick out your favourite dress, the one that you feel great in everytime you wear it… take it to your local shopping centre and accessorise it ‘new’!
Add a pair of incredible shoes, bold on-trend jewellery and perhaps even a new cape or jacket – a piece you will get wear out of again,
Top it all off with a new lipstick and grab a perfume sample while you are there to feel reinvented!
Now you have a whole new wardrobe of accessories to use in other looks!
