My Review of the Autumn Winter Chadstone Runway
Wow! Wow! Wow! As many of you will know, I’ve been like a child in a sweet store the past few weeks as the new fashion rolls into stores!!!! You would think that I might have calmed down a little in my excitement but…I have to share with you, I’m still on a fashion high!
So, what is the reason for my continued excitement? Well, as you know, I’ve been an integral part of Chadstone The Fashion Capital now for so many years as a personal stylist and creative director and every time the centre produces events, I easily get caught up in the buzz and energetic atmosphere. This year was no different!
When Lacey, my gorgeous stylist and right-hand woman, and I received our invitations to the centre’s major seasonal runway show, we were over the moon, and full of anticipation – each year, the centre continues to blow our minds with their productions!
After pre-show drinks and mingling with like-minded fashion lovers, the amazing stores’ management, some really interesting and fantastic people with great business opportunities for Style With Cindy, and of course, enjoyed some celebrity spotting including Olympia Valance and Travis Burns, we were brought to our seats which were in the perfect spot for us to enjoy the show…and what a show it was!
Opening the show with a bang, beautiful models strutted down the runway in black and white, a dominant theme throughout this collection, with looks from Carla Zampatti and Bianca Spender. I just love the simplicity and timelessness of black and white, the colour palette just works on everyone and you can create interest through fabric choices and cuts. Alice McCall’s seasonal contribution of white suede in her collection was a stand out for me (you know how much I love to wear white!).
One of the other classic looks to dominate this year’s runway show, was denim. It was everywhere! Models wore varying shades of denim in soft cut shirts, a range of skirt lengths and of course, the old reliable for most of us, jeans! This season, there’s been more boot cuts and straight legged options rather than the skinny jean that has dominated for so long now. Jackets and dresses were also featured and it was reassuring to see it is possible to wear double denim without looking like a cowboy – the trick is in how to style them!
I also loved seeing such a spectrum of colours, prints and patterns on the show! Really, this season, anything goes. Stripes, graphics, checks and leopard prints were featured and textures were really popular. I just love the return of broderaie to the rails as seen in beautiful dresses. Our love of the Seventies theme was still prevalent through velvet, lace, leather, suede and boho-inspired garments like flares. Tan continues to be really popular, as does the metallic and sport luxe trends. Such a diverse fashion range, I loved it!
Continuing the ‘anything goes’ theme showcased at The Stylo: Files, there was such a mix of footwear to compliment and finish any outfit – as you know, I love shoes and they can really make or break an outfit. Over-the-knee suede boots, brogues, sneakers, Mary Janes, caged heels, lace ups, and more, I was in shoe heaven!
So now you can understand my excitement this week!! I hope some of our photos can give you more of a visual idea of the show so you can feel that you too attended! Overall, my standouts from the centre’s show was Willow and Carla Zampatti, I was really impressed by their collections and the wearability for everyone. Both Lacey and I LOVED the runway show and our amazing goodie bags we received – the only thing I didn’t enjoy, was it ending!!
